Guru-Approved Chive Veggie Dip
Posted by: | CommentsParty season is in full swing this month, especially with the advent of Memorial Day. That means cookout season is approaching, at least in Cleveland, and heavy high-starch salads will soon land on many a picnic table.
So, why not arm yourself with healthy alternatives to mayonnaise and sour cream dips and dressings? Why not include a protein-rich, low-fat and hormone-free Greek yogurt and enjoy the creamy texture it produces for your favorite condiment?
Why not be both the envy and the delight of your fellow picnickers?
Here’s a super simple, delicious and very healthy Guru-Approved Chive Veggie Dip that will have your guests gushing with gustatory delight.
Use it as the base for those veggie pizzas that everyone thinks is healthy despite the chemical-laden or high-fat cream cheeses and white flour crusts. (I’ll have to post a Guru-Approved Veggie Pizza…)
Use it as a dip for the crudites platters or a dollop on your turkey wrap sandwich -and don’t forget the sprouts and tomatoes. And chives are in season, so what are you waiting for?!
This simple recipe is as versatile as it is delicious. Okay, enough hype…here goes:
Guru-Approved Chive Veggie Dip
1/2 c Greek yogurt (make sure it’s rGBH-free)
1T chopped chives
1T grated Parmasean cheese
If you’re pressed enough for time and don’t see the need to wash extra bowls, just mix all the ingredients right in the yogurt container. Your dip is best when chilled for at least several hours to blend the flavors. Enjoy!

The Guru Omelet
Posted by: | CommentsIngredients:
* One whole pastured chicken egg (or at least organic/free-range) -I get my eggs locally from an old-fashioned chicken farm.
* 5-6 egg whites from cheap egg source (Look, pretty much all the toxins will be in the yolk/fat tissue, so you can skimp and buy the cheap eggs to use for the whites, which have the proteins, right?)
* 1/2 cup of chopped veggies of your choice (I tend to keep chopped onion and bell peppers on hand for this purpose. Sometimes I’ll add chopped kale, collards (for calcium & phytonutrients) or even dehydrated wakame (seaweed) for iodine, which helps support thyroid function (the seaweed addition is salty and quite a different flavor, so prepare yourself for a shock)
* 1/2 oz. of organic cheese of your choice -You can add organic Parmasean, Romano, feta, raw goat’s cheese or any cheese of your choice. Keep it organic, if not raw, so as to prevent the ingestion of the recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH).
Here’s what you do:
Lightly brush olive oil onto a small frying pan. Place over medium-low heat. Then begin to crack your whole egg and 5-6 egg whites onto the pan. Break the yolk (for quicker cooking) with a spatula and cover with a lid. Gather your veggies together and sprinkle them atop the egg and cover again.
You don’t even need to turn your egg over as long as you keep it covered the heat will convect to the top and cook it through. You’ll know when it’s finished because the yolk will be fully opaque.
Here’s another version with the dried wakame on top, onions & raw goat cheese.
