This At-Home Workout Has Fat Screaming for Mercy!
Posted by: | CommentsI really kicked my own butt tonight and I simply had to share it with you. Although I do not have pics of all the exercises, I can at least tell you what I did. If you’d like more details, then please submit a comment below.
This workout is not for the beginner, so if you want a lighter version, then don’t use any weights! For the push-ups, keep feet or knees on floor if necessary.
3 Sets of the Following Exercises with 1-minute of Rest Between Sets
15 Plyo Jump Squats (w/weighted ball – I used 5kg)
12 Push-ups (arms alongside body, hands on two equal-sized plyo balls – intensify w/one foot off ground)
13 ea. Side Crunches w/Rotation on Ball (done slowly on the downward phase w/weighted ball in hands at chest level – I used 5kg)
3 up and back Prone walks w/4 lat rows (done w/weights in hands – I used 25# in each hand) – At this point my pores were squeezing out sweat, literally!
8 Corkscrews (see previous post)

Gym-free Exercise Demo Part 2
Posted by: | CommentsWhen time is of the essence (and is it rarely otherwise), you can and should still find ways to build your
strength, unwind and treat yourself to a good workout.
Here is a quick video demonstrating another way to use your home as your gym. Now, you can really take the excuses right out of why you couldn’t work out. Add this one to your arsenal and tell me how it works for you.

Here’s one way to use your home as a gym
Posted by: | CommentsYou can still squeeze fitness into your busy life. Why wait? You know how important proper nutrition and exercise is for yourself and your family. What is more, you really don’t need a gym membership to pull it off.
Let’s face it, most people who have gym memberships don’t use them. Most people who have kids struggle to work out anyway. So why not save the money and workout at home?
For those like me who have very little personal time, I like to make the most of my workouts. But I can’t put them off for another time unless I specifically make a date with myself.
But if you keep putting off your own fitness, “tomorrow” never really happens, and “tomorrow” will bring you closer to preventable diseases.
Begin making those positive changes now even if they are little steps! You will see a big reward.
What’s the secret ingredient?
Your attitude!
When you decide that you will put your fitness at the top of your list, then you will find excuses to squeeze in a workout, even if it’s only 10 minutes here and there.
Maybe that means 10 fewer minutes of watching TV, 10 fewer minutes on the phone or 10 fewer minutes on the computer. Even a quick workout will give you energy to conquer your world. Incidentally, I generally do not recommend workouts that go beyond 45 – 50 minutes. (More on that at another time.)
Here is a quick demo on a way I like to incorporate the stairs in my overall exercise program. This is tough and not for the beginner, but it’s a great way to incorporate tough workouts during times that work for your schedule. Take a look and let me know what you think by posting comments below.

This is where family fitness really is functional!
Posted by: | CommentsWhen the grass is getting tall and your kids are chomping at the bit for some entertainment, why not invest in a hand mower and get to work?! For a $130, this is a great way to burn calories, have fun with your offspring and get a chore done all at once.
You don’t think it will get your heart a-pumping? Trust me, it does. What is more, you’ll be more green not having wasted the gasoline to power your engine. Use your body as the engine and go at the speed that pushes you safely in your fitness.
10-minute increments are great to rest and get a drink of water in between. Sure you can break it up into five-minute segments, too. Whatever you do, have fun with it. My little guy just invites himself into the picture and wants me to chase him with the mower. It’s a lot of fun and an excellent means to squeeze fitness into a busy schedule.
