Hungry for Fun!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

The house is a mess, life is stressful, and the kids are full of energy, so this is what we do:

I am grateful that we only hunger for a good time, but there are many children who actually eat so few calories a day because they live in poverty. That is why through the end of the year, I am on a mission to serve 3,200 meals to Cleveland’s poor through the Cleveland Food Bank. At least 1,060 meals will go to children. You can help provide 200 meals and sweat off your excess! :)

Nitty-Gritty Holiday Fat-Loss Tips

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Here’s how I do it, so I don’t skip a beat on my fitness and even get an edge on fat loss!

1.  Eat every 2.5 – 3 hours.  This alone is an excellent way to stimulate the metabolism and boost calorie burn!

2.  Drink more than half my body weight in ounces daily. I chug at least 10 ounces first thing in the morning and ALWAYS have water wherever I am.  In fact, I make it a goal to chug 120 ounces daily!

3. Eat protein with every feeding.  Protein requires extra calories to break down in the body.  Many nutritionists call it a natural thermogenic, which means it heats up your body and burns those calories.

4.  Exercise 4-6x weekly.  3-4 of those workouts are total-body intervals that I perform for 20 minutes with a dynamic warm-up before and stretching after.  The other 1-2 workouts are cardiovascular workouts that typically are over in 15-20 minutes done interval style.  I do love a longer run and will throw that in when the kids are visiting their father.

5. This tip is worth gold: I time my nutrients so that I eat my fruits and starchy grains immediately after a workout and eat proteins and fats the other times.

6. I eat veggies all day long, even at breakfast!

7.  I take my Juice Plus. I don’t want to miss out on any of the rainbow of colors and all their powerful phytonutrients, especially if I limit the calories and sugars from starches and fruits at times.  Even with all the produce I eat, it’s still not enough to bridge the gap and make me feel as though I’m protecting myself from disease.

Now, with 18 peer-reviewed, third-party studies, I have total confidence that taking Juice Plus is why my children and I bypass the colds and flu viruses that run so rampant this time of year.  I’m too busy to get sick!

So, there.  Now, you know my secrets.  If you’re interested in fat-loss this holiday season, then jump on the bandwagon before the “Holiday Express Fat Shred” program fills up.  Click here for more info: Holiday Express Fat Shred

Here are 7 ideas for busy moms to get in the proper mindset for fat loss during the holidays:

1. Decide that you can burn fat and look great before the New Year.  To be successful with anything, you must first decide that you want it.  In other words, success is a decision.

2. Look at your schedule and find out what non-priorities are taking up valuable real estate when you could be exercising or focusing on meal planning/preparation.  Is it TV time, chatting on the phone or posting on Facebook?  Well, if they’re the reason you’re using not to exercise, then you have some more reflecting to do!

3.  Moms tend to be great multi-taskers, but in case you’re not think about if there are there activities that you can combine to help save time? For instance, can you brush your teeth while putting items away in the bathroom? Or can you listen to a lecture or book on tape while you pick up the kids from school? Or can you return phone calls in the car when you’re waiting for school to let out? Can you batch cook your meats and grains a few days in advance (or week) and wash and cut your vegetables while those things cook? (Feel free to share some of your own tips, too!)

4.  Surround yourself with positive, like-minded people.  Join an exercise class.  Schedule brisk walks with supportive friends. Read More→

Now is the time to get grounded in your fitness.  It’s time to stop procrastinating and get serious about your well-being and that of your family.  One in two men and one in three women will develop cancer in his or her lifetime.  Heart disease and cancer are still the biggest killers, claiming one life every Read More→
