Guru-Approved Chive Veggie Dip
Posted by: | CommentsParty season is in full swing this month, especially with the advent of Memorial Day. That means cookout season is approaching, at least in Cleveland, and heavy high-starch salads will soon land on many a picnic table.
So, why not arm yourself with healthy alternatives to mayonnaise and sour cream dips and dressings? Why not include a protein-rich, low-fat and hormone-free Greek yogurt and enjoy the creamy texture it produces for your favorite condiment?
Why not be both the envy and the delight of your fellow picnickers?
Here’s a super simple, delicious and very healthy Guru-Approved Chive Veggie Dip that will have your guests gushing with gustatory delight.
Use it as the base for those veggie pizzas that everyone thinks is healthy despite the chemical-laden or high-fat cream cheeses and white flour crusts. (I’ll have to post a Guru-Approved Veggie Pizza…)
Use it as a dip for the crudites platters or a dollop on your turkey wrap sandwich -and don’t forget the sprouts and tomatoes. And chives are in season, so what are you waiting for?!
This simple recipe is as versatile as it is delicious. Okay, enough hype…here goes:
Guru-Approved Chive Veggie Dip
1/2 c Greek yogurt (make sure it’s rGBH-free)
1T chopped chives
1T grated Parmasean cheese
If you’re pressed enough for time and don’t see the need to wash extra bowls, just mix all the ingredients right in the yogurt container. Your dip is best when chilled for at least several hours to blend the flavors. Enjoy!

Recovering from family fitness stress

Recovery is when our bodies build themselves back up again, stronger than before if we are exercising and eating properly. One of my favorite modes of recovery is the foam roller. Here you see the Red Devil himself demonstrating how to work the tension out of one’s shins. He’s so smart, isn’t he?! Anyway, be sure you give yourself ample time to sleep, stretch and work the tension from your tight body parts. When was the last time you had a massage? (Please don’t go to your grave without the experience!!) The next best thing is self-massage with a foam roller. Notice I didn’t say it’s a complete substitute! It certainly helps aid in oxygen flow to the muscles while rolling away the acid build-up. If you live in Cleveland and have not come by to my Training by Liz Exercise Therapy class, which uses many tools including foam rollers, then you are missing a great way to unwind your body.

Rocco Castellano casts fitness pearls for families
Posted by: | CommentsYou haven’t seen an update since last week because I was experiencing Rocco Castellano’s Fitness Celebrity Branding Summit in the beautiful Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort in Albuquerque. It was an amazing time through and through! What is more, I made sure to get interviews from the cream of the crop of fitness trainers!
So let’s begin with the most famous fitness personality, Rocco himself. I had to ask Rocco what he’d like to advise parents on as he has trained many parents from many walks of life. Listen and share your comments below.
