Does this motivate you?

By

I know what motivates me and how I can motivate my clients to work harder and push themselves beyond their expectations. I ran across this video from “The Biggest Loser” TV reality show and wanted to share it with you to get your opinion.

Does this form of motivation work for you?  Maybe it does.

Do you think it has a place in a trainer’s repertoire?

Is this how you imagine personal trainers to be?

I know what I think, but I want to hear from you. Take a look and post your comments.

I think this is disgusting and I feel that way about reality tv in general.

Horrible. Disgusting. Abusive. This is why I HATE this program. Jillian and Bob are in NO WAY representative of what true fitness professionals are. Professionals care about their clients. We don’t scream at or criticize or belittle people who have come to us for help. Worse yet, Bob infects the entire group with his negativity, and they start to criticize as well. What an a**hole.

I would have walked off the show!! He was out of control. I have never understood that type of verbal outburst that is meant to build people up by tearing them down.

Thanks for your comments, Drew!!

Judi, you and Terry have great comments, which I totally take to heart because of your field of expertise in human psychology. Does negative criticism work as effectively as positive?

So glad you replied, Terry!! Whether Bob “lost it” for the ratings &/or mental instability is something to consider.

Is this part of the ‘goose step your way to fitness’ program? Geez. I think I saw disdain dripping out of his pores.
