Confessions of a single mom (Detox day 1)…
ByI have been imperfect. In fact, I have caved into the pressures that certain stresses have caused: divorce, selling a home, moving, holidays, running a business, kids. 2009 was a year in tumult. They were necessary changes, but difficult to wade through. As a result, my body is showing me signs, and I have to pay attention. Here’s what I notice:
- Certain days I’d liken my appetite to that of a hungry truck driver (lack of sleep some nights, sugar)
- Getting thick in the waist
- So far so good in the legs/hips, but that waist means more metabolically active fat
- I don’t have that resistance to sweets as I usually do (red flag this one)
Recently someone gawked at me when I said that I have been eating too much. “Really? But it’s all healthy stuff, right?” Calories add up no matter what.
So, watch this video, post your comments and be my support. These next two weeks will be a journey for sure, but I’m determined to go through with it. Don’t miss the smoothie recipes below!

Hi Liz!
I’m in your corner girl! You rock! I hope everything goes well. In fact, you will inspire many who see your video to “get their house” in order, so to speak and do something positive for their health. I know that I am certainly inspired. Makes me think about how I need to take more control of my health as well. We all have room to improve… it’s just a matter of doing it and when we have people like you willing to lead the way by peeling back the onion of your own life it is a great way to motivate both yourself and those in your network.
Know that I’m here for you if you need help or support. You go girl!

GO LIZ! You are an inspiration. I think of you often when I am off track and say to myself “What would Liz say about these cookies?”, or the like.
You have my support. I will be tuning in!

Hey Liz, This is awesome! You are a great role model for a lot of people. I appreciate your honesty and sincerity. There’s not a lot of women who can do what you are doing with all you have going on, plus to put it all out there for all to see is simply amazing. You have my full support in your journey as one of the world’s greatest role models for women everywhere.
I’m can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post. All the best and keep up the great work.
